June 19, 2023 is the third year that the U.S. government officially recognized Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the date in 1865 that slaves in Texas finally learned of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
We can join in the celebration marking the former slaves’ freedom from physically slavery and also be reminded, as I wrote in this devotional, about the freedom from the slavery to legalism made possible because of Jesus.
All is well,
Lisa
