Today’s devotional comes from the Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, The Last Supper.
What fascinates me about this painting depicting the aftermath of Jesus’ announcement that one of his disciples will betray him is that you can see the reaction of the disciples. A group of the disciples are surprised, Peter has grabbed a knife, Thomas is incensed, James looks stunned, while others appear to be demanding answers. I see myself in so many of their reactions.
And yet, through it all, Jesus remains calm because he has entrusted himself to God, the one who judges justly and will eventually make all things right.
